Support for special tribunal to bring Putin to justice

Calls for an international special tribunal to be set up in order to try Russian President Vladimir Putin, and those responsible for Russia’s acts of aggression against Ukraine, are being publicly supported by Aarif Abraham, and Nusrat Ghani, MP for Wealden.

The request for a special tribunal for Putin was made by Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba. Because Russia is not a party to the International Criminal Court (ICC) – the only body that could try high officials who are most responsible for aggression – there is a need for an alternative route to justice.

There is widespread support for the initiative from diplomats, lawyers, and former world leaders including Sir John Major and Gordon Brown.

In an article on The Times website – We need a special tribunal to bring Putin to justice – Abraham and Ghani outline the case for a special tribunal.
